My co-workers computer jumps at her with the message. Rogers online protection has found Trojan.Downloader.Bredolab.AZ in x folder. And cannot quarantine or remove.
I'm the official unofficial IT guy so I say.. no problem let me run Spybot S&D it will clear up that thing like so much clearasil on a spotty teen. My good friend the spybot gives me a clean bill of health.
I run the rogers scan again it finds more. The world starts closing in on me. I can't believe spybot has failed me. So I go looking for some new tools. Run in to this MajorGeeks website and think... what a nice colour this is my new home.
I run the tests and scans from the Windows XP Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure page. The first scan and :crap tons of malware starts piling up.
When I hit 165 I :*** freak out. So I run through the rest of the scans and tools and they all seem to find something.
Now I am done with the scans and just needing an expert opinion to see If I am still brokened. Running a rogers scan and so far it is coming up roses.
Thanks for your time and consideration :bow

This was the first scan I ran the SUPERAntiSpyware one. Where it got 165 hits.
    Thanks again ;)

Looks like the scans took care of things. Just some miscellaneous items to take care of.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Java(TM) 6 Update 21 <--- Uninstall this outdated version of Java.

Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Well I'm home now so the fix will have to wait till tomorrow. I left the AV scanner going and when I left it had already detected 1 at risk item. As soon as I can get at that computer tomorrow I will try the fix and do the clean up you suggested. Would you like me to post the Rogers Online Protection log if it finds more stuff?

Certainly. If it is finding something it would not hurt for you to attach it's log. :)

Ok ran through the fix and it succeeded.

Then ran every malware/Antivirus software at my disposal. NO HITS! Ran through the Java install and cleanup with no problem.

Only thing is it seems to have effected our outlook express. We lost all the old e-mails we had and seem to be having trouble receiving new ones. I guess that would be expected seeing as the first detection of the trojan was in the outlook data file. Any ideas on fixing this? Or am I outta luck.

Thanks again and have a great day.

Hopefully you have not installed multiple antivirus! :)

Not out of luck, no. You can ask about it in the software forum.
You're welcome. You too. Safe surfing.
