Blimey - this one has got me stumped.
i stupidly plugged in a new monitor whilst my PC was booting up - my PC has gone bananas!
the monitor works, but the PC will just not boot properly. If you select 'start normally' it goes onto a black screen and hangs indefintley. If you select Safemode - it takes approx. 5mins to go to a black screen with the usual 'Safe Mode' in the corners and an arrow - it then takes a further 5mins to alow me to log in and it goes to the usual safe mode screen with icons. i can't connect to the network (As it's safe mode), and my AVG antirius now says it's needs to be re-installed.
I've tried an XP Reapir install, but no joy
i've tried to run AVG antivirus from a boot disks but the last command line fails.
i've run a FixVundo utility from Symantec which came up clean.
in essence, i'm not sure if this is an OS or a malware problem!!!

    PLEASE HELP

Anyway, copy of HIJACK LOG BELOW (i konow it;s an older version of HJT - I will download a newer version and take it back home to my PC)

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments. The version of HijackThis you are using is way out of date and it is not installed properly.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

You may need to discuss this in the Software Forum though! I wonder why the below two items are running. The are not malware but are not normally running.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SRFirstRun] rundll32 srclient.dll,CreateFirstRunRp
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SchedulingAgent] mstinit.exe /firstlogon

Also the below is not the proper location for MSconfig to be running from:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msconfig.exe

If you cannot run the READ ME in safe mode, do it in normal boot mode. But your problem may be more of a software or hardware issue.
