    Hi guys,

Noticed suddenly my pc seems slower than usual and for the most part wont allow me to click on my name now to login at boot (I press cnt alt del twice, click cancel, then it will let me), it also wont let me control windows open in explorer 50% of the time without same as above, then today (2 days after noticed prob) nero's back it up ran silently and if hadn't crashed I wouldn't have known (there is no scheduling in Nero for this). I'm stumped on the problem since its just so sudden, only other person to use my pc in the timeframe is my fiance. I did have to remove some useless files from startup to do with 'alcor removeable devices' which i have no idea and other known but waste startups.

I use and have checked\scanned the following tonight:

Windows XP Home current with all updates (verified)
AVG 7.5 current (scanned and clear)
Zonealarm 6.5.737 current (checked allowed list and clear)
Spybot S&D 1.4 current (reset to untick all exclusions, scanned and clear)
Ad-aware SE current (reset to untick all exclusions, scanned and clear)
Java 2 SE current (cleared cache)
CC Cleaner current (cleaned and cleared any 'issues')
Trend Micro online virus scan (clear)
Checked and removed unneccessary startups using MSconfig
    Checked all processes active

Where I'm perplexed is although the pc shows clear for all above, I thought ok, but while checking file types in luitilities I downloaded spyeraser and ran a scan (it wont let me highlight so using screenshots):

I'm kinda shocked as hardly use the pc, but not sure if this program is 'putting on' faults, or real problems.

I've downloaded Hijack This and ran and to me anyway seems ok:

    <!-- REMOVED INLINE LOG -->

It all looks clear to me, so has my perplexed at this point. I've been around pc's a long time, and can't explain it. Is spyeraser the real deal, if so, the only thing I can figure is somethings been on my pc then been wiped using my own scanners\cleaners (i have them on desktop under maintenance). Any feedback is much appreciated, I haven't said to spyeraser to clean yet in case it's dodgy.

    Kind Regards,

    Chris.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Please note that you HJT log should be run and attached last!
