Malware or something else???

Hello everyone. I don't know if in the right forum or not but i hope i am. im kinda new with computers but im learning fast (so i think) and i alwayz keep my computer up to date with the latest security updates from microsoft and im allwayz carefull not to download anything that may seems suspicios, but no matter how safe anyone plays it, i think that there will allwayz be a fist time for an error. so this is my story. i was surfing the internet looking for some desktop toys and end up in http://widgets.yahoo.com/
i donwloaded the animeter widget for my computer, and well... i know i shouldnt have done that cus right after a few minutes from doing so, my computer starting acting weird. (didnt respond at all) i had to turn it off and restarted and then it showed a window saying that my registry had been modified by something but that windows had successfully recover the registry. so i went and run the hijack program and i notice a few entries that i didnt recognise so... i just hope that i may be wrong and this was nothing but a false alarm. hopefully thats what it was. so please if theres any body here to help me figure out whats going on, i will really apreciate that. thank you guys.
