Malware redirecting search engines searches

Right now my search engine searches are being redirected to the wrong sites. I primarily use google and it does not redirect every search, but maybe 1 in every 4. And when it redirects it does it more then once and will go through a chain of 3-5 sites before it stops.

My problem sounds very similar to this fellow, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=201471

But since I am not very handy with this business I did not feel comfortable following the advice in that thread without hearing from a person first.

I have had some problems running anti-virus software but not as much as the person in the link above. For example, upon finding this I tried to install kaspersky but every time I attempt to install it fails. Other anti-virus has failed initially but eventually worked for some reason.

I followed all of the instructions listed here, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

When I did everything, none of the different operations found anything. Also, combofix.exe did not provide a log. I had it run over night so I am not sure if it may have announced it found anything. When I came back to it my computer had restarted and when I got back into windows it said it was writing the log and then it blue screened. The blue screen said "PCTCore_2.sys
Driver Unloaded without cancelling pending operation"
    If that means anything.

Ill attach the logs I do have and thanks for any future help.

What browser does this occur in?

If firefox then try the below:

    • Please download GooredFix and save it to your Desktop.
    • Double-click Goored.exe to run it.
      • Select 1. Find Goored (no fix) by typing 1 and pressing Enter.
      • A log will open which you can just close. The log file is named Goored.txt and is on your Desktop.
    • Please attach the Goored.txt log to your next reply.
Also I need to point out to you that combofix needs to be on your desktop. Please now move it directly to yhe desktop and double click it to run it. Attach the log it creates if it does so successfully into your next reply.

You should never follow instructions from another person's thread anyway.

    • Spyware Doctor 7.0 <--- is this paid for software ot just a free trial? If it's a useless free trial then please uninstall it.
So attach the log from GooRedFix and also combofix if you're able to run it, and in the mean time I shall review the rest of your logs. :)

    Thanks
