    Hello,

Let me explain the background of my problem:
    OS - Windows XP SP3
    1) A few days ago I noticed my cursor flickering. It wouldn't stop so I killed several processes owned by myself (not system) using task manager. That didn't help so I rebooted.
    2) reboot fails to restart. The error refers to lsass.exe cannot start
    3) I followed an Microsoft help document (Article ID: 307545) "How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents windows XP from starting". I was able to use the Recovery Console to copy old restore point files (sam, system, software, security, default) to c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\ and restart windows successfully. Everything appeared to work normally.
    4) Once I shutdown and restart the next day, the lsass.exe error reappears and prevents me from logging in.
    5) I repeat the Recovery Console activity (#3 above) and I can login in successfully again. But every time I shutdown/reboot the error happens again.
    6) So I follow the Malware removal guide from your site for Windows XP and had many errors.
    - CC Cleaner worked successfully
    - Rogue Killer (log attached)
    - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (failed)
    - TDSSKiller (log attached)
    - HitmanPro (log attached)
    - MGtools (failed)

    Please help!

I really appreciate this type of resource.

    Sincerely,
    Jim

Re-run Hitman and have it fix all that it found. Then try a reboot. Let me know what happens.

    Good to know.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link
