Malware removal

    I've followed the directions in the Read Me first thread. All went well except I lost the internet connection following the Activescan twice. I had to do it in normal mode, but the results were the same. Files are attached.

    This is my adult son's computer and runs fairly well, but I decided to check it for malware.

    Your logs all appear to be clean; however, I would run the below file thru an online scanner unless you or you son know what it is.

    C:\WINDOWS\mpfcd.exe

    You can run it thru this scanner: http://virusscan.jotti.org/

    I submitted the file and it was clean. A search on Google comes up empty. I'm not sure where that file came from. Thanks for looking the logs over for us.

    You're welcome! Well you can either ignore it or try renaming it to something like mpfcd.xxx so it cannot run. This way you can see how your PC runs without it and you can restore it if you find it is needed. You can also look at Properties, Version info (if there is any) on the file by right clicking on it and select Properties and then the Version tab.
