    Is there a place, forum or website, where you can research malware to see if it is a legitimate problem? I understand no single company or product can detect every malware out there, but when I detect a suspicious file, where can I go to see if it is really a problem before I remove it?

    You'd just have to use google, and learn to avoid certain sites which have reputations for giving out misleading/false information. You will get to recognize the "safe sites" which report correctly on what a file is/what it releates to etc.

    Don't forget you can always check the file properties in many ways.

    You can also run files through an online scanner such as VirusTotal or Jotti, but you cannot totally depend on the outcome of those results as being true:
