MALWARE:small box @ bottom (green,red,&yellow)...

PROBLEM= I have a small box in my registry that consists of the colors in the subject line. I have no idea what it is but several ads have popped up asking if I want to remove spywar/malware. I can right and left click on it and it never happens.

QUESTION=What else can I do to get rid of the annoying icon thus ending the terrible pop ups?
COMMENT=You guys have helped me in the past and I appreciate it greatly.
WHAT I'VE DONE= I've run Spybot S&D and I have AVG 8.0.

2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
