I have a virus or something that is playing havoc with my machine. I followed the Windows XP cleaning procedure thread and have attached the files I am supposed to attached.

In essence, what is going on is that i get these messages saying "your computer has been infected with a virus." It even hijacks my desktop appearance, turns it black, and says something like "WARNING YOUR COMPUTER MAY HAVE BEEN INFECTED BY A VIRUS". I am supposed to click on a link, download and purchase software.

This has been going on for about a week, but I don't remember what I was doing, sorry about that.

Thanks for all your help, I hope this is enough information.....
