Hey the problem started yesterday. After a bit of searching I found that I got the malware from yuku board that I frequently visit. I was then refer to this place by the mod of the board. I followed all the steps from http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=139313. I'm not sure if the problems were fixed after the procedure since I haven't run any more scans after I finished. Now I just need to know what to do after. Thanks for the help.

The scans took care of the majority of the malware, so there is only this to do:

If you haven't already, please disable the Guest account in User accounts.

Please use add/remove programs to uninstall:

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following ( be sure to re-enable when we are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Tell me what problems you are still having and run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

I did everything you have said. I'm not really sure if there is still any problem left because I can't really tell, as the pop-ups has stopped after the first cleaning procedure. Here is the new log and thank you for the help!

Ok...that worked....now you just need to uninstall:
Viewpoint Media Player --> from the Read and Run Instructions.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Well my computer just went really slow and kind of froze up, then it went into standby mode. I restarted it and the pop-up has started again. What should I do?

You managed to get yourself highly infected between the 9th and now. Fortunately again, the scans took care of the brunt of it.

    Use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    Viewpoint Media Player

Run this: Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

I've done everything you said. I still have pop-ups coming up, but it doesn't come up as often as before. Should I rerun the scans?

You need to make sure that ALL anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are disabled.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.

    * Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    * Under Main choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.

    If you use Firefox browser

    * Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

    * Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    * Click the Empty Selected button.
o NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Again everything is followed! Though I still get pop-ups and I believe that
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B5449A98-DEAF-46BC-B790-5735E5047C44} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqQjIYs.dll
    and
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtUkiIby - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\vtUkiIby.dll
couldn't be deleted as they kept coming back.

    Well, how rude!!

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Tell me if you get a success message and also if you still get the pop ups.

Ok, those 2 got deleted and the fixME.reg was a success, but I still get pop-ups. Should I run the mgtool and post the log?

Please re-run both SAS and MBAM and then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

    Attach those logs. :(

Important Notice: A new version of SUPERAntiSpyware is out that should help with this problem from Vundo.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this first log later.
    • Since this infection has been reappearing after a reboot, you will have to reboot again and then run an additional scan to make sure it comes back clean. Attach this second log too.
This may be the problem. The new version is catching some of the CLSID's that don't want to go bye bye.

Ok, I ran the scans, but instead of 2 I ran it 3 times. The first one found a couple of different things. The 2nd found about 11 of adware cookies so does the 3rd. The logs are here.. Thanks Tim!

Sweet.....it was the registry keys we are most worried about and not the tracking cookies.

    Are you still having issues?

Nope... the pop-ups went away and it seems fine.
