I was recently infected with several malware & spyware. Before I came across this site I ran several anti-spyware program scans and eventually an anti-virus scan. They found and cleaned many things. Once I found this site, I followed the instructions in the "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide" and have attached the corresponding logs (all except for the AVG Anti-Spyware log). The reason why I didn't download and run AVG Anti-Spyware is because I had already run the following programs (some of which I saved logs for):

    Ad-Aware 2007 Professional 7.0.2.6
    Sypbot Search & Destroy 1.5.2 RC1
    SpyEraser 2.0.1 Build 1516

In addition to the Tools mentioned in the Malware Removal Guide, I also ran the following (most of which I have logs for as well):

    GMER
    VundoFix
ZoneAlarm Anti-Spyware (from within ZoneAlarm Pro 7.0.642.000)
    ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0.621

Anyway, I am not sure that my PC is "clean" now and would like some expert help/opinion based on the results of my logs. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I have since installed AVG Antispyware. I've attached the report.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm looking thru your logs now. While I do that, you can uninstall Viewpoint Media Player as requested in step 1 of the READ ME.

Okay I see you also did not follow the instructions in step 1 of the READ ME about not using MSconfig. As a result I cannot continue. You need to use MSconfig to put your system into normal startup mode and then reboot if it tells you it needs to. And then do the below to get a new MGlogs.zip file. Also to help you understand why not to use MSconfig, read this: Dealing with Startup Processes

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
You do have some malware to remove and we will get started on that after we get the new logs.

Actually, I had set the system to Normal Startup but it was after I had run the tools that generated the logs I attached previously. I then set it back to Selective Startup. I have reset it to Normal Startup again and re-ran the MGTools file. The logs that were generated have been attached as requested.

Actually it was not in normal startup mode when you got the first logs. That can be seen just by looking at the logs. Also you must remember to read the link I just gave you. You should not use MSconfig like this anymore. Right now your registry is all messed up because you have been doing this. There are a load of stray entries left hanging on in your MSconfig registry keys now. Many for software that is not even installed anymore. We will manually clean them up.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_04\bin\jusched.exe
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

I've down what you suggested. Things seem OK, but I wouldn't know for sure yet. Here are the logs you requested:

    You're logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN
      • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
      • Note: The space between the X and the /U, it must be there.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you run RenV.exe, you can delete it and the Log.txt file on your Desktop.
    9. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    10. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    11. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    12. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    13. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

About the only thing that happens now is my Mozilla Firefox browser takes an EXTREMELY long time to start up after a fresh boot-up. Other than that, the malware/spyware problems I was having before are gone. Thank you very much for your help!!! :)

    You're welcome. Surf safely.

This sounds typical of the first time FireFox is loaded after a reboot.
