    Hi Geeks,
I'm pretty sure I have a malware issue on my PC. I can't access any security websites, like malwarebytes.org and more. In fact, I am surprised I can access the Geeks website! I can download removal tools, but they won't run and I've tried quite a few.. I can't boot into safe mode -The dreaded Windows blue screen error message comes up-"Windows has detected a problem and needs to shut down". I followed your "Read me first" and did everything I could, including remove the old Java versions. When I tried to install Java again, it said the program is not digitally signed and shut down. This has happened a few times with other installs as well. My browsers shut down frequently on their own as well. Ihave a recent hijack this log, but not sure whether to attach it or not, as it was mentioned it may be filtered as spam. Anyway, hope you can suggest something. Thanks!
    Bobby

If you can't boot into safe mode and normal mode will not allow you to run any of the scans, there isn't much we can do to help you. Have you tried running all the requested scans? Have you tried renaming them as per the Read and Run First instructions? Will MGTools.exe not run?

You can try using a different computer to create this disc and then boot to it with the infected machine. ( You will need to first go into the bios and change the boot up order to make the cd drive the first boot device.)

    Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

Hi Tim- Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions. Re your questions-I didn't notice MGTools at first. However, I just ran it and it completed and I have a log. I did try to rename the Malwarebytes removal program-to no avail. Ran all the scans on the Read ME First page. Before I give up and fromat the HD, I'll try the Kaspersky Disk idea from an uninfected computer- thanks for that suggestion. Will change the bios boot up as you mentioned. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Thanks again!

If you have the MGLog.zip, please attach it so I can get an idea as to what is happening.

Hi again Tin and once again thanks for your time with this issue. Just so you know what else is happening, windows task manager only shows what's running-no processes option any longer. My AVG AV shows "no active components" and won't scan. Several Windows Run Time Errors C++ now and then that shut my broswer down and Spy Bot runs a scan on only around 38 files or so, which is no where near what it should be. Attached in the MGLog.zip file for you. Hope you can suggest something. I also can send a Hijack this log, if you'd like.

    Thanks so much!!

    Hi Tim,

Ssorry didn't click the upload button. I haven't tried the Kepersky dick idea yet, as I need to wait to get to a friends house to copy that to a CD.

    Thanks again,

    Bobby

Before you create the disc, you need to tell me what issues you are having as I am not seeing much in the way of malware in those logs.

    Hi again Tim,

Here's what been happening for 2 weeks or so. A few friends are telling me there's viruses in my emails and that's with no attachments. My AVG antivirus loads and says "there are no active components" and won't scan. Spybot scans only a few files. Windows task manager only shows what's running-no processes option any longer. I use a few browsers and they all crash now and then. Sometimes, there's a Windows Run Time Error C ++ window that comes up and I need to close the browser. I can't even access the Malwarebytes.org website or it seems any other security related websites except you guys. I've tried running several malware removal programs after I could download them from CNET. etc. They download OK, but will not run. Also can't boot into safemode any longer. Blue screen comes up and says "Windows has deteced a problem and needs to close". If the Kaspersky disk idea doesn't work, it's starting to look like a format of the HD - I truly appreciate your help and time and hope there may be something that can be done.
    Regards,
    Bobby

You can try running the Kaspersky disc, but I don't think this is a malware issue. It is sounding like a software issue to me. If Kaspersky doesnt find anything, then perhaps your best bet would be to backup your files and personal data and do a clean install.

    Hi Tim,

You may be right about the software. I'll make the Kaspersky disc and run it and see what happens. Probably won't get to that til Sat/Sun. At any rate, I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again for all your help and advice.

    Enjoy your day.
