This isn't a big deal, I'm more curious than anything (the file in question has been deleted).... there was an entry in the msconfig startup list that was an .EXE file named after the user. So, if the user name was "Joe Schmoe", the file would be Joe Schmoe.exe. It was located right on the root drive (so it would be C:\Joe Schmoe.exe). Has anyone seen this or heard of this before? I'm assuming it was malware 'cuz it had the same date as numerous other obvious malware files....
    :confused

    Just wondering....

    Good assumption.

It's malware (poorly coded at that because it should hide the .exe somewhere else such as system or hidden temp folders) just because it's located in startup and root folder and having the user's name as part of an .exe filename which never happens with installing regular software.

    I've seen bad [username].dlls.

Normally there are not many files in the root (although some programs enjoy dumping their logs there).

Easiest way to find out is to upload the file and get it tested.
