Malwarebytes 4.2.3.199

On Nov 13 MajorGeeks (Official Mirror for Malwarebytes) showed that a new version of MB was available - 4.2.3.199.

I have looked everywhere on the MB forum for this release.

I have not downloaded this "update" as I cannot verify it is a legitimate update - not even as a beta.

And I let MB decide when to update.

What's the story? I like MajorGeeks very much but I'm concerned that wrong information might exist.

I just got a reply from the folks at MB forum -
You are making reference to the current Malwarebytes for Windows (MB4) 189MB off-line installer. The highest integrity source for that download is always at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline

Typically, most users will download the much smaller (2MB) stub installer from: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/thankyou/

To further verify authenticity and integrity, you may always upload to https://www.virustotal.com

It is very common for Malwarebytes to release an update but then not make it available through all of the normal update channels. It can take a few days to a week for it to be available through the built in update and the online installers. It's frustrating but nothing to worry about though. The software still works as it should until the new update is pushed out to everyone.

I think they like to see if there are any big issues/bugs that were not caught by the beta testers before doing a wide scale release of new software updates.

Edit: I used the offline installer and it corrupted Malwarebytes. Decided to use the Malwarebytes Support Tool to repair it because even the built in uninstaller was broken. FYI: The offline installer and Support Tool both installed the old version.

Save a headache and just wait for the update to be pushed through the program.
