I would like to rid my kids laptop of this Malwarewire attack but......how do you stop the constant shut down and restart of Explorer? I can't run any of the malware software until Explorer is stabalized. Is there a process in task manager that I can shut down? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Try doing the below as best as you can! You will note that at certain points we have you run things in safe mode. It may be possible that you have better luck trying to run in safe mode. Note, you can shutdown explorer.exe but all Desktop icons, the Start button, etc will disappear while Explorer is shutdown. You can run various things via Task Manager, File, New Task (Run...) choice. You can even restart explorer by just entering explorer.exe and hitting OK.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Thanks chaslang. I actually booted up in safe mode with prompt and got into msconfig. I found two or three references to the Malwarewire in the startup section. Once I disabled them and re-booted it did away with the constant Explorer shutdown and startup. I was then able to get into system restore and restored to a date last week. That cleared all of the Malware crap. I noticed that my son had his Vista malware protection shut off and re-enabled. Thanks again for your quick response. I printed out your directions for future reference, if needed.

You're welcome. Make sure that your son does not disable UAC anymore. Leaving it enable makes the Vista OS much less susceptible to malware problems.
