MAME.. Windows... + I`m stupid! :)

Hey Guys,

I used to use MAME32, but it's been a while (Years infact) and I want to give it ago again, but me problem lays between not knowing whats what these days, and how to go about it... Should I use the command line version optimised for Intel, with a frontend like Mame Plus (If its even around still).. Or should I go with the 32Bit XP version...

Also, any suggestions of a 'Guide to setup' would be greatly appreciated, I don't have all my old links for the Mame downloads, all I remember was mame.net for command line version, and Q& A @ Classic Gaming - Retro Arcade?

NOTE: I am NOT looking for roms, or want anyone talking about them in this thread, it's already borderline talking about MAME, please! I do not want this thread locked, I am merly looking for setup help, regarding games, there are 'Free legal' rom image downloads out there! NO ILLIGAL ROMS, even the mention of them!

 

I have been using MAME for years and i always use the command line version
i never uses any frontend and talking about mame is okay you could even download here at majorgeeks link http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4627


So if you download mame command line install somewhere like c:\mame

Then your first command should be: mame - createconfig

a mame.ini would be created and you could tweak it that's what i do

And to start a game let mspacman...

it will go like this go to same place has your mame directory and type

mame mspacman if you see no error message your game should start....
