Man Tests Lighter At Gas Pump, Learns Lesson The Hard Way

If you were looking for a sign that all those warnings at the gas pump mean something, well, here's your sign.

The dunce cap of the day goes to a driver in Australia, who flicked his lighter as he filled his car with gas last week. Turns out the lighter worked!

Footage captured by a security camera shows flames shoot up and lick the man before spilling onto the concrete below him -- just feet from the pump.

He flees, leaving everyone else at the station in danger.​

I saw a guy with a lit cigarette at the self-serve pumps at Kroger a few weeks ago - luckily before I started filling up.

I hauled a** out of there in record time - the gas station is still intact, but seeing someone that stupid was not a risk I was willing to take to save three cents per gallon with my Shopper's Card.

The event reminds me of "The Survivors" movie scene (with Walter Matthau and Robin Williams) where Walter and Robin's characters inadvertently cause a HUGE gas station explosion (Click Here: to see the Original Trailer)

BTW This was a hilarious 'early' Robin Williams movie (from almost 30 years ago, back in 1983) and Matthau plays the excellent sort-of 'straight man and comic foil' to Robin's comedy in the movie.
