Many dead components

    Hi,

I've had an Intel Duo Core E8400 3.0 Ghz Processor with stock heatsink for 16 months in an ASUS PQ5 Pro, with a Corsair 650w Power Supply, 4GB of G-Skill memory, and an EVGA 9800gtx in a Coolermaster case. The entire system has been working great for that entire time but recently I powered it on and it wouldn't reach the post screen, just the monitor would go into standby mode as if there was nothing connected. All fans spin, and lights on the board are on, however, there's nothing on the display other than the monitor alert saying that it doesn't detect anything.

I've connected the system to other monitors, using different cables with the same result.

I had the motherboard replaced and it appear to have the same result.

I eventually was able to bring it to a computer shop who claimed that the only working parts in the system were the hard drives, 1 stick of memory and possibly the power supply.

In the mean time, ASUS gets back to me saying the Motherboard had no trouble found, which is good news but messed up since the PC repair shop says my new board doesn't work at all.

Any idea what the deal could be? There were no hardware changes at all that may have caused this. Is the PC repair shop a buncha flakes or could my system have been toasted by a power surge or something?

    Thanks

EDIT: Tired and need to read the post

I would ask them how they tested the hardware.

If that many parts died I sounds like a power surge or a major PSU failure but corsair is a very high quality brand for PSU's
