It's meant to be disturbing. If you read the newsweek article this was done a the behest of women who this actually happened to, and they wanted to spread the word. There is a subculture within the United States (and possibly elsewhere), more of a subculture of a subculture of a subculture, that thinks if it is biblical, then it is OK.

I have to admit the basic site is very well done, and would fool just about anyone. I found it in reverse order, knowing it was a hoax, which increased the humor value a lot.

 

Wow the only people I thought had arranged marriages were from the middle east,it happens still in the UK between middle eastern family,the bride and groom are of the same age though but often they still dont get a choice who they marry they just get whoever would be beneficial to both familys prosperity,they have this little charade where the bride goes into a room for the first time and meets here soon to be husband and if he meets here approval they are married which he always does,not long ago a girl was killed in England because she refused to marry who she was supposed to which offended the family's honor,everyone was brought to justice though.

 

Nutjobs are everywhere, but finding them can be hard sometimes. They don't want to be found you see.
