Marware removal accomplished but...

I am free of malware and everything seems to be running great. However, I am limited very strictly on the internet using IE or FF. I can get online (with my modem going to a local tower). I can search and then can only get on to a very small percentage of the listed sites. I can get to your site, and a few of my favorite sites in my bookmarks but not many. Even my homepage comes up with most of my addons like weather, calendar etc., unaccessible.

I did not have this problem before malware. Can my modem or router be infected? My virus was on my desktop, my laptop was not infected... yet it has the same probems now with the internet. Or has some of the programs I used during the removal change settings? I can't find any. I did run some of them on the laptop to make sure it wasn't infected... it was not.

Can someone help?
