Everytime I start our laptop PC-Cillin gives me a couple of messages, saying that my computer is infected with a virus, which it can't delete and/or quarantine.

It also comes up with a couple of start-up errors.

    BIG PROBLEM!!

internet explorer and mozilla firefox both shut down suddenly when i go to the PandaActive site, so I couldn't do that scan.
another problem is that I can't open HijackThis, and I couldn't download it from the internet either! :S (I did manage to unzip the file to the laptop using a usb stick...)

Also, I have to upload the files (shownew, getkey etc.) from the laptop to another computer to upload the files here.

    all the help is appriciated!!
    thanks,
    Marco

Continue by downloading a tool we will need -PocketKillBox

Save it to its own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate it later.

Go to add/remove programs in the control panel and uninstall:
    C:\Program Files\Outerinfo

    Download this file - ComboFix
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log for you. Attach this log to your next reply

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.
NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue.

    Select:

    * Delete on Reboot
    * then Click on the All Files button.
    * Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32wnscpcc.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32servmswin.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REN316E.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\REN316F.tmp
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winfvj32.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\servmswinp.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lvyflvgabmgd.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hjthis101.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\fkjvrckwnlgi.dll

    * Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    * Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.

If you receive a PendingFileRenameOperations prompt, just click OK to continue (But please let me know if you receive this message!).

If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT (This is neccesary to continue!!)
    4. Combofix log

after a lot of trouble I could get a HJT log, the problem is; that I can't open HJT in normal boot mode, so I had to go into safe mode to create a HJT log file. I had a look at it myself and I think there are a lot of probs there, which we don't need a 'normal mode' HJT log for to fix them.

Also ComboFix and Killerbox didn't work in normal mode. So I ran them in the special safe mode.

I still need to use a usb stick to toggle the log files you need from the laptop to the computer, in order to upload the log's. Maybe this has to do with any of the malware?

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.
O23 - Service: SX Service (SXServ) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sxserv101.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: Windows kernel Service (Windows kernel Serv) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\servmswin.exe

After killing all the above processes, click Back.

Some problems with HJT and Killbox

in HJT I can still see:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xxyyaaa.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Config\svserg.dll

with Killbox I get this message:
    PendingFileRenameOperationsRegistry Data has been removed

then I deleted all the files (not on reboot), and these files could not be removed:

    Download and run Process Explorer
Extract them to their own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate them later.

Reboot in Safe Mode (do not open any other processes)

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of xxyyaaa.dll, svserg.dll and seervmswinp.dll once and then click the kill button. After you have killed all of the xxyyaaa.dll, svserg.dll and seervmswinp.dll's under winlogon click ok. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of xxyyaaa.dll, svserg.dll and seervmswinp.dll and kill it.

Next double click on iexplore.exe and do the same.

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Run HijackThis and select the items that would not delete the last time.

    Now run Pocket Killbox:
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click OK.

Run Killbox.exe. Paste the below filenames into KILL BOX one at a time. Check mark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion…say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click NO...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot. Note many of the file list below may not exist but we need to check for them anyway.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xxyyaaa.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Config\svserg.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\seervmswinp.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\servmswin.exe

If Killbox does not reboot or you get a Pending Operations type error message just reboot your PC yourself.

    Attach new logs for:
    ShowNew
    HJT

I managed to get a HJT log in normal mode by quickly getting HJT to scan, just before it suddenly closes down.

    Analyse.txt is actually HijackThis.log
I had to change the name, otherwise I couldn't look into it. (sudden shut down of file when it is called HijackThis.log)

Btw. that link to process explorer is for Pocket Killbox

And i'm doing that Process Explorer stuff in safe mode, and I can't find any of those processes!!
Just to make it clear to you... I only have the problem in normal mode, not in safe mode!!! But I can't delete any of these in save mode either :S

Look in task manager and see if this process is running, and if it is click on it and then click on End Task
    \servmswin.exe

    Next
Start > Run, type in the following commands one at a time and hit Enter after each line:
    sc stop Windows kernel Serv
    sc delete Windows kernel Serv
    And click OK

    Also Download win32delfkil.exe
    Save it on your desktop.
    Close all windows.
Double click on win32delfkil.exe to start the removaltool.
    The computer will reboot automatically.
After reboot a logfile will open: c:\windelf.txt
Post the contents of the logfile, in your next reply.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

    * Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner.
    * You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Yes.
    * The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
    * Once the files have been downloaded click on Next.
    * Now click on Scan Settings.
    * In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended
    o Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
    * Click OK.
    * Now under select a target to scan:
    Select My Computer.
    * This program will start and scan your system.
    * The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    * Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save Report As button.
In the File name: field, type kavscan.
In the Save as type: field, select Text file (*.txt).
    * Save the file to your desktop.
Attach that information in your next post.

    NEXT:

Please reboot your computer normally into Windows, and then please post the log from the Kaspersky scan.... c:\windelf.txt and a new HijackThis log.

    How are things running now?

Then let's do it the hard way:
First did you knowingly installed this: YETISPORTS Pingu Throw D.C.

    If not, then uninstall it!

Uninstall the below via Add/Remove programs:
    VSAdd-in for Internet Explorer
    VSToolbar for Internet Explorer

If they do not appear or do not uninstall, please tell me!
    • Now Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to Google service notify v501
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Now repeat the above to Stop and Disable the below two Services (if you do not find them or get any errors, just continue):
      • SX Service
      • Windows kernel Service
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    • Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the None of the above, just start the program button at the bottom of the choices.
    • At the lower right, click on the Config button
    • Then click the Misc tools button
    • Select Delete an NT Service
    • Copy/paste Servicegg into the box that opens, and press OK
    • If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.
    • Now repeat the above to delete the below two Services (if you do not find them or get any errors, just continue):
      • SXServ
      • Windows kernel Serv
    • Now exit HJT but do not reboot when it tells you it needs to. We will do that further down after running HJT again to fix some other items.
Make sure you have rebooted in Normal Mode (do not open any other processes)

Also make sure that one and only one Internet Explorer browser is opened up

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of servmswinp.dll once and then click the kill button. After you have killed all of the servmswinp.dll under winlogon click ok. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below DLLs (If you do not find the dll, just continue on):
    svserg.dll
    xxyyaaa.dll

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of servmswinp.dll and kill it. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below DLLs (If you do not find the dll, just continue on):
    svserg.dll
    xxyyaaa.dll

Next double click on iexplore.exe and again click once on each instance of servmswinp.dll and kill it. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below DLLs (If you do not find the dll, just continue on):
    svserg.dll
    xxyyaaa.dll

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

great work Tim, all the unwanted files has been deleted I think, I also deleted VSToolbar and VSadd-in from C:\Program Files\ but I can still see the files in the add/remove window. If we can get rid of that it will be great!!

there is something else... When I log in at MajorGeeks on the laptop, and it redirects to the tread I was looking in, I am offline again, and have to log in.. and then I log in again, redirects, offline, and so it continues. Now I use another computer to poste the logs (this message)

Thanks for all the help Tim,
    cheers,
    Marco

When you log into MG's check the box next to "remember me".

Please uninstall this thru add/remove in the control panel:
    Google Web Accelerator

Let's run Killbox again and this time go to file, paste from clipboard (all the below items that you have copied to the clipboard) and choose the box for unregister .dll's before deleting. Then click on processes and see if C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuevuwed.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\utbsaaue.exe is showing. If it is, put a check mark next to it and click End Task. Click on delete on reboot and exit.
Reboot and attach a new ShowNew log.

any other malware, or am I officially clean now?

I'm not getting any virus alerts from Trend Micro anymore, HJT seems to be clean and the computer is running fine. Except for that it takes a long time to boot up.

Your slow startup could be associated with the items in your start up folder. You may wish to go to start / run / msconfig and see what is there. Stop those that you don't need at startup and see if it gets better. Msconfig is only for diagnostics, it is not the way to permanently stop items from starting.

I am not seeing anything else in your logs.

However you should : Kill the messenger

    6. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    7. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    8. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
