    Subject: math trick

Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you. Personally I would like to know who came up with this.
    1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)

    2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area
    code)

    3. Multiply by 80

    4. Add 1

    5. Multiply by 250

    6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

    7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

    8. Subtract 250

    9. Divide number by 2

    Do you recognize the answer?

That is pretty neat math trick. Figured it would be your phone number, but hadn't thought all the way through on the formula in order to explain it.

    I see how it works.
Steps 3 and 5 multiplies the prefix by 2000 (plus 250 from the "add 1" in step four).
Step 8 removes the 250 added in step four.
Steps 6 and 7 adds twice the last four digits.
Step 9 divides the prefix in half (to 1000x) and the last four back to normal.
Unfortunately, remembering high school algebra isn't helping me get a life!
