Maxtor M3 Error And How To Use The Drive

I've just purchased a Maxtor m3 2TB as my old Seagate was running out of space. I have tried to seek help from Seagate but the website is continuously down so I cannot access the manual or help forums.
I'm trying to back up using the drive but I am getting an error message ie
'error 2 backup device path is too long - this message appears when the selected path is not found at the specified location. Check the path again. If an error occurs on the particular file during backup, try again except the file from the backup source.'

My questions are how do I check the file path? How do I know which file is the culprit?

I am not really sure what it's backing up either. Using my old Seagate I used to be able to manually create folders on the external drive eg My Docs, My Pics with the date. I don't seem to be able to do this with this drive. The old drive was very useful in that respect as I knew where the oldest backup folder was and could delete it when a new backup was made to save space.

Hi baklogic. That link works thanks but when I click the user manual on the website it's just saying 'the page cannot be displayed'. I have tried several times to access the site today but it appears to be having problems.
