:) I have been having some serious problems lately with what I think is a virus, however after trying to get some help here I found that the instructions are very confusing, “do this” or “do that” don’t do this yet, don do that yet. I tell ya as a layman its pretty hard to understand exactly what the computer gurus want, I know if it was me wanting to help other people with their problem, I would be helping them as a one on one service instead of a generic solution, anyways, I think ya’ll do a wonderful job for someone who can understand what ya’ll are doing.
Now to get back to this post, I just downloaded sygate firewall and it found a simple exectable file, and when I blocked its access, all the pop ups disappeared and I haven’t seen them back. I already think that it’s a great fix, is my virus gone? I don’t know, but until I can get some personal help from someone I don’t have to deal with the pesky pop ups. Good luck with everything you do with this web site. And this is not a cure all for other people’s problems, it fixed mine. Have a great day.:)

The directions may seem long and complicated but they are really not as bad as first glance makes them seem. Hundreds of PC novices run them without a problem each week.

You have started multiple threads and we have given you the same answer each time. You need to stay in one thread and complete the directions given or we will not be able to help you.

Most people are under the very mistaken misconception that HijackThis is a malware removal tool. It is not! HijackThis is simply a tool that is used to identify browser hijackers and in some cases it will show entries for 'some' malware that is for instance running at startup. All it does is list a few of the thousands of registry keys that exist and it makes no inferences to whether anything being shown is good or bad. HijackThis does not come close to showing all malware that could be hiding on a PC. Anyone who has an infected computer and is relying on HijackThis without the benefit of running other scans such as Spybot, Windows Defender, BitDefender & Panda, CCleaner, etc. are more than likely still infected. In most cases, where there is one virus/trojan there are more. The goal of this forum is to remove all malware, and this cannot be done properly by just seeing a HijackThis log.

Give a starving man a fish and he only goes un-hungry for a day! Teach him to fish and he will never starve again.

So go back to one of your previous threads mentioned below, and complete the steps as requested:

    help with removal please

    malware and trojan suspected

Installing Sygate will not remove malware! It could mask certain problems from showing but your malware is still there slowing down your PC, making boot up take longer, and wasting system resources. So in reality your actual problems are not fixed. Maybe just the one outward symptom you happened to notice is gone but not all malware tries to let you know it is present. In fact many of them attempt to completely hide. Thus the reason for the steps in the READ & RUN ME.

They are not generic steps! The lead you by the hand one step at a time. Just a week ago a 73 year old grandmother ran them and she is not the first person with zero PC experience to run them. You need to just start at the first step and work thru it. Then move to the second step and work thru it. And so on. If you cannot do this, then your alternative is to pay to have someone do what you can do. It just takes of your time. You will learn alot along the way which will help you in the future.

If you can download and run HijackThis and Sygate, you can download and run the other tools!

If you do not get a handle on doing stuff like this, you will find youself always at the PC repair shop paying for someone to help you and they will not do as good a job as the cleaning steps here do.

dear chaslang, I in no way am saying that what ya'll are doing is a bad thing, in fact, its guys like you who are blessed and we are lucky to get your help, however i will repeat, the instructions are confusing to me, if i had a personal step by step instruction, without, confusing stuff like "dont do this step yet comments" i think i could do this. I.E.:
    step 1. run whatever
    step 2 run whatever
step 3 after running whatever, post to me and wait for reply
step 4 fix and repair this or that

this is i beleive is the only way im gonna get. I will try it differently when i get home, however i am currently offshore and im without a clean computer till Tuesday.
Again i in no way am trying to be insultive. My keyboard is going nuts and it makes the cursor jump all over the place. I know this is frustratining to you, but imagine how frustrating i am. I will try to work through all this tuesday, until then im searching all over the net, i will prob. have it really screwed up by then. thanks for all your help. i truly appricate it.

    Run step 0!
    Skip step 1!
    Then run the rest!

That is about as simple as it gets. Otherwise we would just be posting all the same things but just one at a time which we just don't have time to do.

Keyboard problems (and mouse problems too) are rarely related to malware. They are more often than not just problems with the hardware itself or driver related issues.
