98-lite suggests "to speedup an old PC, remove internet explorer 4,5, and 6"...

What crap remains after a fresh W98se install, with IE6, and 98se updater sp2 software "paxkage"..?

Trouble with removing IE6, is that HP says it needs it for the HP 3 in one to function...
but maybe that's just for downloading HP updates, and that HP connects via IE standard...

Does HP 3 in one require anything in IE6 to function?..

What else can be done to speedup a PC?.. besides the obvious max the ram, strong cleaning habits, 98 lite, new mum board, no media softwares installed, and the few new registry tweaks, out there in the melting pot, combination "throne"....

Do drivers speed up a PC?..

Why is so tough to find reputable drivers sources..?
In most cases, you click "drivers".. and you run into a wall of scam-wallow...

Does anybody do ultra extreme drivers?.. as in, What driver properties does it take to push a signal-absolute through a quarter inch of soft plastic...? given the plastic is bio-engineered to process signal as pure data-stream... As in "PC's worn on the arm as skin-grafts".. in a tsunami styled OS...

Explain why that would not speed up a PC? it may if using an alternative browser speed up your internet browsing but to speed up a PC.. doubt that indeed as all you would save by removing is some space and lets see..you would save all of 54mb and thats a conservative figure.

Nothing above those ideas apart from installing a quicker Mobo, CPU, Ram and HD etc etc etc etc

In some cases they may do as in GFX drivers may give some extra % FPS, but the majority of drivers just bring stability to the PC.

Most likey as Win98 is an old and none supported OS that updated drivers are not on the minds of 3rd party developers, so all you will find in many searches are repositories for drivers.... could try the OEMs of the hardware, but likely their drivers are in legacy archives or not available at all.

You need a bucket of water thrown over you to wake you up from your fantasy dream world.
