Not sure. Last 3 days about 2 or 3 times a day I loose my internet connection. Most the time about 5 min top then it comes back on.

Found if I reboot my machine my connection works again. Running windows 7 pro 64 bit. God I hope its not the router.

If the laptop still has a connection, then it isn't the router. Try a different cable - yes they can go bad.
Try a different port on the router - yes a port can go bad too.

I may not be explaining this right. Let me try again. My computer cable modem box Is loosing its connection. I have a router hooked to my computer. The modem from the cable box goes into the router then into my computer.

I wonder if it could be the router that is causing my cable box modem to loose its connection.

No if the cable modem is losing the signal, call the cable company. You either need a new modem or the signal is not strong enough.
I've had Comcast for my internet since June 2004 and in July 2009, I went through what you are going through. When I called tech support, they told me it sounded like the modem was going. I bought a new modem and the same thing happened with the new modem. The next day, Comcast came to the house. He discovered that the signal strength was too low - I wonder why it took 5 years to show up? Anyway, he added a signal booster to my line inside and I've had a solid connection since.
So before you buy a new cable modem, which might not be needed, ask someone to come to check the strength of the signal.

Thank you plodr. You were right. I called. They happen to have a guy close, He came by, Something about a splitter went bad, Not sure. Man I hate calling those guys. They always believe its the user or user hardware to blame.

I realize stopping buy for a check see, is just to much. I pay 160 bucks a month for cable, net and phone, And 15 min once or twice a year just seems to kill them. This time it worked really well. Tec guy on phone said right off, I am looking at your modem there is something wrong for sure. Goodness they can be lazy. I thank you kindly. Have a nice day.
