I'm in a bit of a hurry here....
    MB: Intel D975XBX socket775
    CPU: Intel Core2Duo E6550 2.33ghz
Are these two compatible??? I couldn't find an answer at Intel's web site as to whether that CPU will work in the model MB listed above. Maybe I didn't look in the right place... Anyway, thanks for any help (and I'm in a bit of a rush, so the sooner, the better ;) )

No, but I think the E6420 will. The FSB on the E6550 is 1333mhz and the motherboard supports 1066Mhz/800Mhz. I could be wrong but I don't think the E6550 will work on that motherboard.

Thanx for the quick replies. You're both right. I did eventually find the supported CPU list at Intel's site, and the E6550 is not listed. It has a 1333mhz FSB which makes it a bit harder to find a compatible stable mobo. I've found several that advertise "1333mhz FSB (with OC)". You shouldn't be forced to overclock your mobo to run a CPU. OC'ing should be something you do optionally to squeeze that extra bit of oomph from your CPU; it's an option, not a requirement. Anyway, thanks guys :D
