    I'm working on a PC that has some fairly serious issues. For one, it will not go online. To eliminate malware as the reason it won't go online, I wanted to run a full MalwareBytes scan, but I can't get updated definitions w/o internet access. So I went to healthy PC to download the stand-alone definition database, only to find it is GROSSLY out of date!!! I downloaded it directly from the MBAM Web Site and I downloaded the version posted here at MajorGeeks and both are dated 05.21.2010!! :eek YIKES!!! How's about a newer version guys!!!!

    The latest version has a date of April 29, 2010
    As far as definitions, since it updates and every update is over 4MB, I assume that an update includes all the previous definitions or else it would be much smaller.

    And also this on the MBAM site
    NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program.
    So I suspect, MajorGeeks is just offering what it gets from MBAM to work with.

    You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations.
    * Windows XP and 2000:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
    * Windows Vista and Windows 7:
    C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

    :highfive Thanks! Good info there. I deal with infected PCs on a regular basis, and occasionally, I find one that simply won't go online no matter what, so this helps in getting current MBAM defs on one of these hosed systems. Thanks again plodr..... good stuff (as always!) ;)

    Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, tinyes.

    Just follow the directions given by plodr: on the internet-enabled computer, download the latest definitions file from here, load that file onto a flash drive or CD, and transfer the file to the home computer, overwriting the file listed in the Malwarebytes folder.
