Mbam Having Issues

    I think my husband had this happen! His computer is at a stand still.

    Please follow the steps below on how to update to the latest database:

    1. Open Malwarebytes
    2. Turn OFF web protection by Clicking on “settings”, click to turn web protection OFF
    3. Under Scan Status (right side), click next to “Updates” to have Malwarebytes download the latest database
    4. Restart PC
    (Note it may take up to 2 restarts after the update to stabilize the system)

    To confirm that you are on the latest database please follow the steps below:

    1. Open Malwarebytes
    2. Click on Settings
    3. Click on the About tab
    4. Next to “Update package version” if you see version 1.0.3803 or higher you are on the latest database which addresses the issue.

    Wish I could have gotten to that. Every thing is freezing and you can't get into anything. The only thing happening is the Malwarebytes upgrade popup. Here I told him how great Mbam was and it wasn't causing the issues.

    You should move this to Software, Tim. If this is the issue with my husband's laptop, it's a major issue.

    Can he get into safe mode?

    Nope. It’s a company computer. I tried. You need admin access. He’s going to have to have his IT department deal with it but he did email them the info you posted.

    This issue only affected the Premium users, correct?

    So his company had an official looking phishing email that people wound up clicking on (including my husband). IT cleaned it with mbam (yes, I have my doubts). They installed Premium. I think it was the trial version of it. But yes, his is premium. Not sure on whether that was the only one affected.

    You need to look at the link and have him email the corporate fix.

    I had to fix 2 computers.
    1. When you see the MBAM icon right click and select Check for updates.
    2. Eventually the program will open and aside of updates it will say either downloading or installing.
    3. When that's done, web protection will still be off. Don't try to turn it on.
    4. Reboot and when MBAM starts, web protection will be enabled and it won't continue to eat RAM until the computer either freezes or crashes.

    My husband had to work today since they have a big thing going on. IT had to come in as well and get his files moved and give him a temp laptop. He told the tech guys about mbam. Apparently they installed it on a number of computers and basically said it was the issue and they were going to have a busy day tomorrow fixing them all.

    What a mess.
