Been having multiple problems for last week. I have gone through all pre-requisite cleaning steps and have not been able to eradicatethe following:
    - MBKW Bar is identified by Spybot but it cannot delete it because the process always seem to be running (tried msconfig using diagnostic startup items only to no avail).

-Also Virus scan identified infection with the following files, which again cannot be deleted because they always seem to be running (I can't tell which processes these are when I check in the task manager):
    C:\windows\temp\drtemp\wupdt.exe
    C:\windows\temp\drtemp\bho_prob.exe
    C:\windows\temp\thife7.tmp\wupdt.exe

    - My startup is littered with Junk programs which seem to re-establish themselves after being deleted by the cleanup tools.

I have generated 2 HJT logs. #1 with normal startup, #2 using diagnostic startup in msconfig

Please read the Announcement and sticky threads and do not post HJT logs unless requested.

First run msconfig and select Normal Startup. Allowing msconfig to stop items from loading will only prevent us from seeing what we need to see.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus RemovalMake sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

    Thanks Chaslang,

Sorry for attaching the logfile . I have already completed basically every step of the "DO NOT POST UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THIS" sticky thread. To be more clear in the steps I already have completed: In safe mode, I
    - Ran the online scans and STINGER
    - Trend Micro found many viruses and deleted
all but the 3 files highlighted in my first post.
    C:\windows\temp\drtemp\wupdt.exe
    C:\windows\temp\drtemp\bho_prob.exe
    C:\windows\temp\thife7.tmp\wupdt.exe

    - Ran CCleaner
    - Ran Adaware SE and VX Plug-in; Ran Spybot
    - Spybot identified MBKW-Bar registry items but could not fix them
becuase they were currently executing. Same with Adaware.
On re-start they could also not fix MBKW-bar
    - Ran CW Shredder
    - Did not run about:Buster and HSRemove because I don't believe I have a
    browser hijack problem (mostly popups).
    - Did not run kill2me because it looked like there may be difficulty
    uninstalling it later.

    - Ran HJT and logfile attached on initial post.
This logfile was created after a NORMAL startup (not diagnostic)

    - I did not run the Alternate scans

Thank you for your enormous amount of patience and assistance

As I stated in my last message:
I see the below in your log which means you are not running a normal startup.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto

Then post a new HijackThis log.

Why are you running without an antivirus application? That is extremely dangerous and is part of the reason you have so many pieces of malware showing in your HijackThis log.

    Chaslang,

You're way underpaid for having to deal with people like me. I thought I had done a normal startup but obviously I hadn't. Thanks for pointing it out. So it's currently Chaslang -2 and (neophyte) Otsink-0. At least I'm resiliant, and hopefully more so than this MBKW-bar thing. Attaching the real normal HJT log.

    Thanks again.

If you do not use Viewpoint Manager (junk from AOL) I would uninstall it as it is just a waste of system resources.

While in Add/Remove programs also look for the below and uninstall if found:
    VirtualBouncer or VBouncer
    SahAgent or ShopAtHome
    MBKWBar or MBKWBarManager

Do you know what the below are?
    C:\PROGRA~1\FDD_FM~1\CZFMDSER.EXE
    C:\PROGRA~1\FDD_FM~1\CZFMDXPK.exe

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

    - Click Start > Run and type: cmd and then click OK! This brings up a command prompt window.
    - At the command prompt opens, type the below command and then hit the enter key:

    nail.exe /FullRemove

Now close the command prompt window!

We need to stop, disable and remove a few bad services. They show in your HijackThis log as:
    O23 - Service: jjgmcdfkawse - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\kawse\jjgmcdf.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: jryvgbumrfgc - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\bumrfgc\jryvg.exe (file missing)
    O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
On the page that opens, scroll down to System Startup Service or SvcProc ... right click the entry, select 'Properties' and press 'Stop Service'. When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the 'Start-up Type' to 'Disabled'. Press 'OK' until you get back to Windows.

Now repeat the above for the below two services:
    jjgmcdfkawse
    jryvgbumrfgc

Next, open up HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the "None of the above, just start the program" button at the bottom of the choices. At the lower right, click on the 'Config" button, and then the Misc tools' button ... select 'Delete an NT Service" ... copy/paste the following into the box that opens, and press "OK":

    System Startup Service

If that does not work, try using the short name of the service: SvcProc

Now repeat the HijackThis step to delete the other NT services:
    jjgmcdfkawse
    jjgmcdfkawse

Now exit HijackThis and then restart HijackThis and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button on the open page. Then select "Open process manager" on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click "Kill process". Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\cywuwwfl\xnanw.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\focnb\eanjwvks.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\SahAgent.exe
    c:\windows\system32\ucjnkcl.exe

After killing all the above processes, click "Back".
Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Program Files\VBouncer <--- the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\MBKWBar <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\oucepqbh <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmrujr <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\cywuwwfl <--- the whole folder

    c:\windows\system32\ucjnkcl.exe
C:\windows\system32\eliteutm32.exe <-- also delete all other filenames starting with elite and ending with exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST). Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

Thanks for the instructions. I am running into trouble when I execute them. See below in red.

Are you logged in with Administrator priviledges?
Does the c:\windows\system32\services.msc file exist? Look for it with Windows Explorer.

You may not have permission to run it. Complete all the other steps in the procedure. Starting with the line that begins with "Now exit HijackThis and then restart HijackThis and click"
