I have Mcafee, and Its been doing something weird these past couple weeks. I will get the exclamation notifier that I'm not fully protected, and then I open Mcafee and click fix, and then everything is back to normal, but within a half hour, it does the same thing. This goes on all day long. Is there maybe a virus on my computer? I have all the antivirus programs, like CCleaner, a-squared, spybot, malwarebytes, and I run them all, and they show nothing. what can I do to fix this? I have windows xp home edition.

I uninstalled it using the tool you gave me, and ran CCleaner, and now i cannot reinstall McAfee. I get an error message that tells me there was a problem downloading it, and its download error 12152, and it tells me to use the Mcafee virtual Technition, and that doesnt even work. I think theres a bug on my computer or something. I got a virus a couple months back, and nothing shows up anymore, but Im having lots of problems with McAfee now!

I Googled the Mcafee 12152 error and there were quite a number of hits including a rouge site!!! The Mods over their have recommended to save the download and run. They also mentioned that it could be due to over loaded servers or a slow/erratic internet connection... Unfortunately, I could not find a post rectifying the problem. You could scan your PC on line using http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner and http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/cac4.php?page=details

Why not install Avira free edition or Avast free...these Av's are endorsed by MG members...Cheers...........

Well, after a while, I tried again and It installed McAfee afterall. As for downloading the free antivirus programs, I already did try AVG and I think my computer got worse. It would not detect harmful websites like McAfee does, so I stopped using it. I also have ran all the programs needed to remove Malware, and it shows nothing. I dont know. maybe something is just really in here and I cant get it out! But thanks for your help everyone!

ok, its back to doing the same thing. its disabling every 20 minutes or less. what the heck is wrong??!! You think it could be a virus? its NEVER done this in all the years I've had it. After reinstalling it, it did stop for like 2 weeks, and now its doing it again. HELP!!

I've also had this on and off problem for several weeks. I believe it's a McAfee issue. If you want, you can avoid the warning pop-up by disabling the SystemGuard alert.

yeah, thats not going to solve anything. I want to know if my computer isnt protected. then if I didnt get the alert, Id go all day and Mcafee would be disabled.

Gotcha, but that's about all you can do except fixing the issue repeatedly. Since all your protection programs dont find any culprit, you should be okay. SystemGuards protection is useful but as along as you're careful with browsing and downloading software, I'd wait for McAfee to fix the problem or make an announcement. Not all your McAfee protection is disabled. Your antivirus is surely working.
