Hi, I recently went to the Microsoft update web page to get the latest updates and I installed the security center updates and the malware removal updates but the microsoft.net framework 3.5 sp1 update gets haulted by my Mcafee anti virus and give me this message:

"The file msiecec.exe contains suspicious scripting activity
The script is attempting to call the create text file method within the ifilesystem3 object"

and everytime it comes up I stop it. This is the first time Ive had this problem and am not sure if I should allow it or not. I mean all i did was try to get my updates and ever one of them went except this. Any help. Thanks

    -Windows Xp media center.

    Hi

Its likely the heuristics of your McAfee that is flagging this up, but as its off a Microsoft Server (can also get the full file HERE) then you will be fine to allow it to install the update to .Net, and if McAfee wont let you, disable Mcafee to install this file then re-enable it.

Antivirus apps do ahve a habbit of doing this at times with legit files and HERE is a MSKB albiet on a Powerpoint file but describes a similar event with scripting and Mcafee
