I purchased Virusscan this weekend, and after installing the software a SpyFalcon window opened up (along with the infected window)...it looked like it was part of the Mcafee install. I was wondering if Mcafee could have bundled the Falcon software with VirusScan?
I had never seen a SpyFalcon pop up before installing VirusScan. I wasn't even suspisious until VirusScan detected it as malware, and I saw it listed here. As a matter of fact It took Major Geeks "Do this first.." instructions to clean everything out of my system after trying with VirusScan. There is something to be said about downloading the free stuff!

No McAfee does not come bundled with this garbage. Perhaps it was already on your PC and something cause it to activate/show up.

    Where did you buy McAfee?

Is it correct to assume from your message that your problems are already resolved.

Yes, my problems are fixed, thanks to the cleaning proceedures I found here.

I bought VirusScan 2006 at Best Buy this weekend. The reason I am asking this question is because of the way SpyFalcon first popped up just as VirusScan was completing its installation...it looked seamless, at first I thought it was part of the VirusScan Software.

If it was a coincidence the timing was perfect.

Could just be a coincedence. Or perhaps something at a point in the install of the software triggered something already on your PC.

Where did you get the McAfee program that you are installing? Is it from an original CD or was it downloaded from somewhere that is not McAfee's website?

Sounds like a good tactic to fool people, it almost worked on me.
If Spyfalcon does trigger by installing Virus software maybe it's something people should be aware of.

I bought my copy at Best Buy. And updated from the Mcafee site.
I was almost tempted to re install Mcafee to see if it happened again.

Well if you are curious enough.....go ahead. But how do you know that right now your PC has no malware hiding on it anywhere already. While running the steps in the READ ME can remove lots of things, the current state of malware has risen to the point where manual hunting is almost always required. Since you did not post any of the require logs from the READ ME or from the SpyFalcon sticky, I cannot be sure what your status really is.

For some reason I assumed you only posted the log files if you still had problems after following the READ ME file. I didn't want to bother you guys more than I had to. I can put together the log files.

Yes that is some what true. But we assumed you still had problems. If you are not having any problems, that's fine. And excuse our false assumption.
