OS XP Pro, SP3. I was having a problem with heavy CPU usage suddenly and traced it back to MCP.exe. It would totally bog my system down to where I could hardly move. I shut it down thru Task Manager and all is well (I think). I believe it is in my system due to my Mercedes Benz WIS (work manual) program. Why it would start running is beyond me. Has anyone had this experience?

HI Mark, No, it was not a start up item. It's kind of weird in that after boot up, it would generally take a while for it to show up in Task Manager. I really though I had malware and was running all the anti-malware programs listed in Chas' write up on cleaning your system and coming up with nothing. All the time it was just this little sucker causing the problem. I can't imagine what would have set it off. I don't know if this is the end of this problem or not. Thanks for the response.
