I have not really a clue about computers, it seems like everything that I am told to do is on the assumption that I can get it to get to the start menu or dos and I can not. Isass.exe system error comes on for a second then goes out then windows then out, over and over forever. this happens no matter what mode I try to start it in. Maybe i should just take it to a shop and not bother you guys with this. It is simple for you I am sure and frustrating when someone just does not get it. It's not due to lack of trying or being dumb as it might seem.

It is very possible that you do not have all of your Windows updates and have a Blaster worm problem. First try the below:

Download this Symantec W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool

And save it some place you can find it, like your Desktop.

Important: Now physically unplug your cable to the internet.

Now reboot your PC in safe mode. The below link tells you have to do that: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

Now run the fixblast.exe file you download to your Desktop.
Now reboot in normal mode and reconnect your cable and let us know the results of the above.

I can not do this because windows will not start in safe or any mode, it tries but goes on and off.

I assume you have WinXP! You did not say. You may be looking at having to do a Windows Repair from the recovery console by booting your WinXP CD. This is really a topic for the Software Forum. Since you cannot even boot your PC, there is not much else that can be done. If you have your original bootable WinXP CD, this may be your best option. Or if you have a System Recovery CD from your PC manufacturer, you can use it to restore your system to the way it was shipped to you. Note: All current data will be lost!
