This install is on a SATA hard drive which needed the driver diskette provided by the motherboard manufacturer for the SATA in order to install, something weird happened the install put the bootup and startup files on an ide HDD, but everything else including the windows directory and all of the program files will automatically go to the SATA drive. If I move those bootup and startup files from the IDE drive to the SATA drive will the system know I did that and still bootup ?

No, the OS will not find the files when moved, had similar when I forgot to remove the IDE drive before installing XP on SATA, maybe a wise thing to unhook the IDE drive ( thats used for backups and gets disconnected ) and re-install MCE?

If possible to do you would have to copy the files to the correct location on the SATA drive, register any dlls etc, then alter the boot ini, and possible edit an unknown amount of registry hives so that they all point to the correct locations.
