Media center problem...

I have a problem I had Win XP PRO on a SATA 160 GB hdd and I deleted the windows directory in preparation for a Media Center 2005 install, now the MC install CD will not see the SATA HDD at all help me figure out what went wrong I may have also deleted some files on the boot sector also.

Is the drive recognized in the bios?
If so...you may have to reinstall xp first. Try a repair install if possible .....also, can you get into safe mode? (doubtful since you delelted files....but).

Hi all,

AFAIK windows doesn't have the SATA drivers, you have to provide the SATA
drivers during install.
During install watch the bottom of the screen, it will say if you need to install
third party drivers press XX I don't remember which button but it tells you.
Then you install your SATA drivers.
You should have your drivers ready on a floppy, probably from your MoBo
manufacturers CD.

It is F6. I had to do this with my nForce2 mobo, but my nForce 3 and 4 mobos never needed it. They were visible from the installer.
