Hello. I keep getting this "memory can't be read" error when trying to initialize "Ghost Pirates of Vojuu Island" or "The Book of Unwritten Tales" (it's the same code): The instruction at "0x04d7e15a" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "read". Ghost Pirates won't even start, the error window shows before the game menu or the cinematics or anything at all appears, and the game crashes. I get to start The Book of Unwritten tales, but when I click to start a new chapter, it crashes before the loading is complete. I already tried a couple of things, like going through the malware disinfection guide at the forum (I did everything correctly, I believe, and there were a coulpe of malwares, but nothing major), cleaning the registry with ccleaner, advanced windows care and registry mechanic, updating my drives, running a memory test, but nothing helped at all. Could anyone give me a hand, here? Oh, btw, other games I've been playing are still working, like Tomb Raider Legend.

I anexed the complete log from Everest.

Just try to preinstall the game. It requires 256 MB of memory.

Pre-install? Sorry, but how do I do it?

Have you played these games on your current system prior to having this problem, and if so have you made any changes to your system in the interim?

Are the games thru Steam, dl'd from elsewhere, copies, or original discs?

You mentioned running a memory test- you might try this also if it is not the one you ran already.

If ram checks out ok, make sure your directx and drivers are up to date.

If directx and drivers are up to date, try reinstalling each game, and then if you're still having problems try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers.

I have done all of these, and my games are original copies. I don't have the cds, because I bought them online and downloaded them, but they're original.
I guess the only thing left to do is reinstall the drives... I'll try that.

    Hi

See if a Graphics Driver update is avaiable HERE for your motherboards onboard graphics, sadly as onboard graphics are not very strong for graphically rich games they may not work well if at all.

The games min specs are HERE and sadly the cards listed as minimum are much stronger in power that your onboard G33/31 Intel GFX, so if you or a friend have a spare PCI-E card you could try that to see if the game works ok.

Oh, damn. LOL. Thanks for your answer. I was starting to wonder if I'd have to buy a new one. I think I do have another one at home, but I'll end up having to buy it for one game or another, so I guess I'll just do it right now.
