Memory decision.

Ok at the min i have 1 GB of DDR 2700 ram installed and im looking to add another GB. Now my question to you experts is would i be better off scraping my old GB and buy 2 GB of 3200 instead. Im not sure about the speed side of things so i guess my question is would it be better to have the 3200 or will it not make much difference? Many thanks.

 

It would really depend on what your processor is running at. If your CPU is running at a front side bus of 333 then it probably won't give you any performance increase. If your CPU is running at 400Mhz, it might.

What do you use your computer for that you need 2Gb? Just curious, because you may not see any increase in performance going from 1Gb to 2Gb whether it is 333 or 400.

 

Using it for mainly games such a Halflife 2 but the biggest problem im getting at the min is with ever quest 2, very very choppy gameplay due to the game constantly having to access the hard drive, now i could be wrong but im assuming this has to do with there not being enough RAM for it to access?. Hmmm... I don't think your problem is memory related. 1Gb should be plenty for any game out today.

If you post your system specs and what type of internet service you have, we may be able to provide some suggestions for locating the problem.
