Have you checked your virtual memory ?
I usually set it at one and a half times the physical Ram installeed,
If you are trying to run 2 x 512, =1gb, set the virtual memory to 1536 maximum, and see if that stops the fault showing on several different sticks of Ram.
Has the Ram has been properly packed away in a rack, or antistatic sleeves/carton, or, poorly stored, and possibly static damaged.
Static damage is not always immediately evident, could give you the memory dump, after a term of use.
