I've put together a second machine using a Gigabyte GA-8I945PL-G mobo. The board has 4 dimm slots and supports 4GB RAM. I've got a 2GB stick and a 1GB stick that are working fine in a dual-channel asymmetrical setup. I've got two 500MB sticks I'm trying to use in the other slots, but when I install them the machine doesn't boot. No bios screen or anything, just black. No beeps, clicks, etc... it just sits there. It's not all that important, but it'd be nice to have the full 4GB since I've got it sitting here. Any help? Thanks in advance!

I know you said it worked with 2 gb and a 1gb installed but when I was reading some of the specs of your board it was recommended that you use 1 gb per slot. Do you think that could be the cause

I should mention that it's DDR2 RAM, and all sticks run DDR2 at the same speed... Thanks again if you can help!

I noticed that but if you are trying to get the max out of it then they recommend that all the memory be the same. However you can use the 2 gb and 1 gb but when you are filling up all the slots they may need to be the same

Thanks! Yeah, that makes sense. The 2GB and 1GB sticks work fine and to be honest, the extra 1GB isn't going to make much of a difference for what I'm using the machine for, I just hate to toss perfectly good RAM no matter how cheap it is now.
