I am trying to upgrade the memory of my toshiba satellite m55-s135 and recently baught a kingston 1 gb ddr2 pc2-5300 chip, however, when I went to install it the chip wouldn't fit into the slot. It seems that the little peg sticking out of the socket and the corresponding recess in the ship don't align.

Does anyone know of a brand of memory which is known to work with Toshibas? Or perhaps what I'm doing wrong?

I could physically force the chip in but I would have to bend one of the memory clips to do it and I would rather just buy a new chip.

    Thanks for your help.

Hello nic, welcome to Major Geeks

They will scan your laptop and advise or you can input model details.
I usually recommend Crucial as I have never seen a problem with their products.

Kingston can be good, bad or indifferent. They have a similar product calculator.
