    Hi
I have Compaq Evo Desktop ( D3M/P1.5/20J/8/128C/6) , Pentium 4 , Win 98, with 128MB RAM. I want to upgrade memory to 256 MB, bur I’m not sure what kind of memory to buy, SIMM, DIMM, PC100, PC133, PC2700 SDRAM DDR???? Everything is kind of mixed up for me. Can somebody help me to make my choice?
    Thanks a bunch

Given that all Compaq Evo Desktop are around the same area you have DDR type memory; i suggest just give compaq a call and just ask what speed is it rated (ie pc2100/2700) just to be sure and a ask for a company that is compatible with the ram installed.

If you go to crucial.com, you can use their memory selector to tell you exactly what RAM to purchase for your specific brand and model computer, even if you don't buy it from them. They do, however, make high quality memory at a good price, and are suppliers to OEMs like Dell.

I already call Compaq , but they said that this PC is not under contract and they even didn’t want to tell me part # of what kind of memory to buy. About model #, I cant see something like that, just serial #

crucial.com is a great site. Thanks for that link. I checked there and I find out that I will need sdram pc133. I have another question now. Can I mix DDR and SDRAM on same PC? or can I mix 128MB SDRAM with 256 MB SDRAM on same PC.
    Thanks again

    No.
I believe there are a couple of MOBO's that support both, I doubt your mobo is one of those.
The slot's & Memory are different.
DDR has one notch and is 184 pin and your pc133 has 2 notches and is 168 pin

You can have two stick's of memory like 128mb & 256mb on the same PC, just need's to be, in your case, PC133
If you have recieved the correct info on your PC.

Run this program it will tell you what kind of memory your running & will also tell you how many ram slot's you have:
