I have an Abit AS8 motherboard with a pentium4 3.0mhz processor. when I built this pc I bought a pair of dual channel memory modules, Kingmax DDR500 PC4000 1GB kit (2x 512 modules). Part # MPTD42D-2K. I recently wanted to upgrade to 2gigs of RAM as my motherboard has four slots for memory in dual channel mode.
My problem is that I can not find a match to this RAM anywhere. Idon't know if it is no longer made or what, but I figured there might be some old stock or something (maybe used ?) that I may be able to lay my hands on. Unfortunately I have not been able to find it. My next thought was to get some RAM that would work with these modules.
I would appreciate any input posters may have as to what other Available memory modules may work with my current memory. I am trying to avoid having to spend the money and buy 2gigs of new memory.
Also if anyone knows where I can find a match to the Kingmax memory I have now I would love to hear from you.
    Thanks.

My previous motherboard used DDR (the new current one has DDR2) and I ran a pair of Corsair Platinum DDR500 512mb memory sticks, so perhaps Corsair still has 'em. You could get a pair of DDR400's and the DDR500's will 'clock down' and run at 400. There's a real good chance that they're running at 400 anyway unless you've manually gone into the BIOS and set the timings and clock speeds to make 'em run at 500 (which in reality is 250mhz x 2; DDR = Dual Data Rate)

Are you looking to overclock your memory? Or do you just want to increase your capacity?

    And welcome!

    Thanks for the input folks.
Yes I do overclock this pc a bit, nothing drastic mind you.
I wasn't sure whether the crucial RAM would work with my current Kingmax RAM. I have read on a few boards that the Kingston HyperX modules played well with the Kingmax ones, but have read nothing else in regards to this. The Mushkin RAM sticks are 2x1GB modules, which is more than I am looking for(but I appreciate the input).
Still on the hunt, Thanks all.
