I want to have 2 gigs of memory, but I have 2x 512 mb=1gig already.I was told having 4x512mb=2gig can cause problems is this true? am I better off dumping my old ones and just gettin 2x 1 gig sticks?

Really the two 512 and the 1 gig chip will work the same as the 2 1 gig chips I see no reason to dump the two 512 chips.

I have 4 x 512 ddr 3200 installed in my machine, and it has never been a problem.

Sorry, just saw this. Yes, they are the same type and specs - my board supports dual channel. They aren't "matched pairs" which would be better - as that was way too expensive
