So I heard on the radio this morning on the way home from work that Merriam-Webster has added new words to their dictionary. One of those words (according to the DJ) was "malware". Am I the only one surprised by this?

I did go to their website and saw that while "malware" wasn't there, "spyware" was. I noticed that it wasn't a complete list...they said it was a 'sampling'...a teaser to make me rush out and buy the newest printing?? ((lol???))

It got me wondering...how many words do we use in our everyday lives that we assume are, but actually aren't, listed in the dictionary?

Here's the link to the website if anyone's interested: Merriam-Webster Online

I have seen many many times here at this message board people say 'What is malware?'. I don't think it's quite as well known as you think.

But I can see why Merriam-Webster, as a respected dictionary, wouldn't just keep adding words in. Urban Dictionary is good for that.

Think I'll bookmark this, I never know whats going on :confused

PS I use Merriam-Webster a lot, the spell check doesn't always have the right word neither do I. :-D
