Hi guys, I've come here with the hope that I'll be helped out. This is what's wrong.

A while ago, I ran a clean-up scan with System Mechanic and had it remove stuff. This is when I believe that the problems started to appear.

I can no longer auto-update things like anti-viruses and anti-spyware programs, nor Windows itself. This is my biggest concern. There is also the fact that browsing's a real pain now. Hotlinking to a website through Google is really troublesome as I get flipped back to Google homepage most of the times. Viewing videos on some websites is also impossible now, and I often get back to Google if I click on links. I get the dusgusting feeling that I'm ridden with viruses, trojans and bastards ogling my files at the moment, I'm trying to avoid a format since I already had to go through a lot not too long ago to get things back.

This is my HJT log file...

I hope that helps a little. I'm running on Windows XP Home Edition with SP3...

Please help me out here, guys.

    Bumping this...

Wow I just got an ad pop-up.

EDIT: I forgot to include that I have set Google as my homepage. So it'd just take me to the homepage I'm guessing.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices.

    * Scroll down to “Non-plug and Play Drivers” and click the plus icon to open those drivers.
    * Then search for TDSSserv.sys
    * Let me know if you find this or not.
    * If you do find it, right click on it, and select Disable. Do not try to uninstall it.
    * Also if this is found and you disable it, then reboot and see if you can run the other scans that would not run.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
