"Messenger Alert" Popups

    Hi there.. and thanks for your responses in advance.

    Im getting Messenger Service popups every 2 minutes even when Im offline. Sometimes they come every 3 seconds; right behind each other. I have read the threads that were posted regarding removal and have followed instructions but I am still getting those annoying popups

    I have all of the software you have suggested to run including getrunkey and show new:

    EDIT: Deleted incomplete hijackthis log.

    I ran all the sofware in safemode and as a result, counterspy found 4 highrisk malware; including allaple.a When I ran spybot it hadn't picked up on spysheriff for some reason; however, I ran counterspy again and it removed it.

    I hope I presented the information in its correct format.. because at this point, I have done all I could to try to remove this annoying popup that comes every 15 seconds. Thanks again! :p

    Hi

    If you had run our guide your Hijackthis log would have not been installed in Documments and Settings and had its Hijackthis.exe name changed to analyze.exe plus you would have attached all the logs the guide mentions.


    Messenger Service popups with adverts and warnings, are a cause of not updating your PC to Service Pack 2, but in the meantime you can use this to stop those spam messages http://www.majorgeeks.com/Shoot_The_Messenger_d3703.html

    *note: Messenger Service is a networking alert tool and nothing to do with Windows Messenger or MSN/Live Messenger which are Chat programs.

    Then if you have clciked any of those messages that popup, its wise to fully complete the Read Me First guide and attach all the logs requested.
