    Underground Death metal...nice name

Thrash and grind.....sounds as if they may have sexual connotations to me.... or maybe a hoe down in the wheat fields...do they sound anything like Sinatra or Crosby by chance?

Why do they call it Underground death metal? Does anybody die?

Why didn't they call it underground kitten metal, or something like that?

LOL! Someone should put up a thread entitled something like 'What's the strangest music group name you've ever heard?'

What would be more interesting is to hear how they came up with those names!

Well, Its called underground because they aren't on a major record label, or dont wanna be. Or are independent. Its just good music. I've met many of geeks on irc that listens to metal. :p

I used to love Iron Maiden, but they are not underground, and I still really love AC/DC, but they aren't really metal, neither are they underground.
So, no, I guess not! :D

most of my metal consists of Mercyful Fate, Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Saxon, Budgie, and the like.

90% of what I listen too is classic rock. Zeppelin, Neil Young, The Who, so on so forth

Truly enlightened individuals acknowledge that the musicians make the music good, not the genre classification ;) :p

AC/DC Rock! Playing them right now actually. Anyone see the Back in Black interviews last night on VH1? Saw the Metallica one the previous night which was great too.

    Bon Scott RIP :)

Oh? So there are no good hip hop musicians? Or is that an oxymoron? Or is the genre bad? I think all three! ;)
I think the reason classic rock is classic is because the musicians (as you said) played very good music that they wrote, and played it well, with taste, feeling, and excellant choices. They didn't just play it "louder" or "faster" to make it "better". They knew what actually made it better and sometimes that meant not playing at all. The good musician plays well. The great musician has the self control and objectivity to make the decision whether or not to play in a given situation. Zepplin rules in this respect, as does The Who, AC/DC, Boston, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Rush, Jethro Tull....

Yes, Cindy and I stayed up WAY to late to watch that thing. Those guys are great. I'd love to have lunch with them and chew the fat and just hang out. They seem like really humble guys, esp Brian Johnson. What a guy to have the courage to try to follow an act like Bon Scott. He knew that he could never replace Scott, but he knew also that he had to somehow emulate Scott, yet be his own thing....how the heck can anyone do what Johnson did? Hats off to Johnson, and the whole band, for continuing on. Those guys just got it, what can ya say?

First time I read this Eric, I thought "You wimp! It wasn't on THAT late" :p Then I realised being in Chicago it was probably around 2am for you guys. I still have to adjust to time differences in the same country. In England, the time it is in one place is the time it is everywhere.

I rocked into work with AC/DC this morning :D

Witty is something I'm not at 8am in the morning ;)

Besides, you hit the nail on the head. Hiphop musician is a contradiction in terms.

Stealing other people's beats and talking smack through the song...no.

I mean, at least sing to the music you "borrowed."

    :p

To those that do perform their own background music, I tip my hat. The next step is to shut up so people can hear your music without you talking over it. ;)

    /Ducks into a ditch.

I think I just tossed a grenade into the masses.
